WHAT'S NEW...
August 1, 2007:
If you have been following my site for awhile, you will notice that I have not updated it since May 2007. I have to apologize for this, but it could not be helped...I've been so busy since I returned home from my medical adventures that I have hardly had time to work on my website. I have to consider my rehabilitation as my top priority, and with my regular Physical Therapy sessions and the tasks of daily living, I have found it very hard to find the time to update my website. But now I think that I am ready to get back to it and will keep you up to date on my life and times as a photographer. I have updated the Image of the Month for August 2007. It is called "Fiery Cloud at Fiery Furnace. Please read about it here.
Also, let me give an advanced announcement that soon I will be adding some new products for sale on this site. These products are greeting cards which are unlike what you find at the local card shop. They are general purpose cards that will feature one of my images on the front with a fully open place inside the card for you to write a note to your intended recipient. I have often tried to find a card in a card shop for a person that would not be topical or "canned", and that I could write my personal message to the person without it having to be a "birthday", a "holiday", or a "condolence" of some kind. Also, I wanted to develop something a man could send to another man, or that a woman could send to another woman without a rhyme or "canned message", but that was tasteful and appealing and that would allow the communication of many different messages in a nice piece of fine art.
My first issue will be based upon night scenes from Vienna, Austria, and will include a number of wonderful night images of important landmarks. These are unique--I've never seen anything like them. I will be offering them for about $20 for eight cards, and they will include envelopes, all of which will be packaged in a clear envelope for easy viewing. They will be very nice for your personal use, or for giving as gifts to others. You can buy them right off of the web using a Visa/Mastercard, and they will be shipped to your address, shipping included, in a couple of days.
I think you will enjoy them--you will have the opportunity to have a wonderful high quality fine art print, with your own message, in a format you will be eager to use. ...coming soon to this website!
May 1, 2007:
Well, I am back to my website after spending most of January, February, March and April 2007 in various hospitals in the greater
Some good news--While I was sick, one of my photographs was published in the March 2007 issue of Cowboys & Indians magazine! Look on page 136 and you will see "Sentinels of Navaho Sunrise" as show here:
December 1, 2006:
Today I am featuring the debut of my "Web Studio Image of the Month" series. This months selection is "Thimbleberry", an image that I photographed while shooting the water falls at Silver Falls State Park near Salem OR. Please click on "Thimbleberry" to see the feature write-up about this image, what photo gear I used, and the challenge I faced in getting a truly sharp capture.
Each month I will be selecting an image from my portfolio, and will be offering a matted version of this product at a reduced price...25% off my regular matted image price. That is $190 vs the regular price of $254. I can offer this price because I'm able to produce them in a larger quantity thus reducing my reproduction costs...and I pass these savings on to you.
A reminder...if you are considering the purchase of one of my images as a gift for a friend or loved one, please order it by December 15th so that I have time to produce it and deliver it to you by Christmas. One of the matted images makes a fine gift, and by adding a frame to set-off the matted image, you have a truely wonderful fine art gift...I know the recipient will love it [at least that is the feed back I'm getting].
November 29, 2006:
There are several things of importance to note today: First, the "commercial part" of this website finally went "live" this morning! We've faced about a two-week process of trying to align all of the Merchant and Banking network components...trying to get them to "talk" to each other. We finally found the "Rosetta Stone" that enabled these links to work, so now we are "live", and orders are beginning to come in. Thank you, I appreciate your business! Second, I am ready to announce the inaugural "Web Studio Image of the Month" for my site. Tune in on December 1st to see this stunning image. I know that you won't be disappointed. Those who have seen it have been very complementary, so I think you will have something to look forward to. And, per my Pricing Policy, a matted print of this image will be sold at a 25% discount from my normal price, and the matted and framed image together will sell for $295 compared to the $359 normal price. Now, that's way cool. Third, since this is the holiday season everyone is in a rush to get their shopping done for those special people on their list. Some of you are coming to my site, selecting one of my fine art images as gifts for your loved ones. I suggest that you get your orders in by December 15th so that I can produce your gift and get it out to you in time for Christmas. Orders received after December 15th will likely be received after the holiday, though I'll do the best I can.
November 22, 2006:
Good news, the commercial portion of www.dougwinn.com came to life today, one day before Thanksgiving! So, that is really something to be thankful for! What an effort this has been, but we've reached this important milestone through the hard work of many good people and I am thankful for their efforts.
So, if you are planning some special gift-giving for this Holiday Season, or if you are decorating a room in your home, or have that "vacant wall space" in your office that you've been planning to "improve", please consider one of the many fine art images on this website. It will bring many uplifting moments to you and others through the years, each time it comes into view. Your friends and business clients will appreciate it, too...they will tell you that you've made a good choice. Remember, my fine art images are warranted to fully meet your satisfaction [visit Web Store/Warranties].
Enjoy browsing through this site...take your time...and if an image really catches your eye AND your heart, make the decision to enjoy it for years to come.

All systems are "Go" for the commercial portion of www.dougwinn.com. It will go “live”
November 2, 2006:
The dougwinn.com website is now on line! However there is still a lot of work to do. Of most significance is the commercial part of the site which is currently going through the necessary "underwriting" by the bank and credit card companies. This should be complete in just a few more days.
Original Welcome Page for www.dougwinn.com
Also, I have a number of essays in their final stages getting ready for publication on this site--ones on trips to the Okavango River Delta in Africa, to Wu Tai and Ping Yao in China and to Vienna/Budapest/Sirmione/Venice in Europe. I also have many fine art images from these exciting locales and they will be on line over the next several month. However, today there are over 250 fine art images now on display on this site, and a number of interesting essays, gallery slide-shows, and the web store that discribes the products that you can purchase on this site.
So the website is up, and this is no small fete. Many folks have worked on the development of this site, or have helped me in my transition to professional fine art photography, or have encouraged me "to keep at it" along the way. I am endebted to each of you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I hope you return to this site often in order to view and purchase wonderful fine art images for your home or office, to keep up to date on my latest projects, to read my new essays, and to give me your feed back or ideas on how this site can better serve your needs. Now, the real adventure begins...! May 10, 2007: |
